Summary (7.48)
Due to US legislation to prevent credit-card companies from collecting payments for bets, Pacific Poker has determined to suspend all their real money gaming business with US residents.
Pacific Poker has become the favorite poker room for many Texas Hold'em players looking for very juicy high-action tables and frequent promotions. The No-Limit and Pot-Limit cash games are strongly recommended for players looking to have a good chance at winning. There are also many special promotions such as money added and freerolls.
Pacific Poker is part of the 888 group - the company behind the world's largest casino, Casino-on-Net - so there are many wild casino customers at the tables! At the Limit Hold'em games on Pacific Poker, the view flop percentage in full, ring games often is in the 60s and 70s - sometimes even up in the 80s! In addition, No-Limit games are also among the juiciest and loosest online.
The action and promotions are great, even though the Pacific Poker player base has taken a very heavy hit by losing almost 50% of their active players since the U.S. passed online gambling legislation. Real-money player statistics for Pacific Poker show 1,300-1,800 ring-game players at peak hours and 7,000-9,500 tournament players at peak hours.
Ring Game Traffic (6)
The traffic at Pacific Poker is good, but it is somewhat concentrated to fixed-limit Hold'em ring games and Hold'em tournaments. There are typically 1,300-1,800 players at peak hours, the largest portion of which plays in Hold'em ring games and tournaments. Most of the other traffic is in Omaha Hi-Lo and Seven-Card Stud Hi. In all, Pacific Poker is a site with decent traffic for the most popular games.
Game variety (7)
Pacific Poker has first-rate game variety. There is No-Limit and Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi and Hi/Lo and Seven-Card stud Hi and Hi/Lo action at the poker room. There is also a good selection of tables offering heads-up play and six-, nine- and 10-handed games. There are micro-limit tables down to $0.05/$0.10 and the max limit at any table is $75/$150.
Soft competition (10)
Probably the most juicy games online! But the good-old crazy 85% view flop percentages at $15/$30 tables is down to maybe 65-70% in best case. Thanks to Casino-on-Net's operations, there are a lot of less experienced poker players, often with a sweet tooth for gambling... At peak hours you typically find one or two full ring games (10 players) with a view flop percentage in the 50-ies or 60-ies. If you are looking to make a profit the Omaha Hi-Lo tables are very good as well.
Loyalty bonus (7)
Every $10 bet on raked hands earns you 1 Bonus Point, 100 Bonus Points can be converted to $1. Whenever you play at Pacific Poker your comp points accumulate automatically. Each and every bet you place on raked hands, adds more points to your Comp Account. These points can be converted into cash and added to your Poker Bankroll anytime. Also you get a $50 bonus for each referred friend and the referral gets $25.

Software & Graphics (8)
Pacific Poker software is good these days, and it has improved a lot since it was first released. It is a biton the slow side but has decent graphics.
A player can play at up to five tables at one time, and multi-table play is smooth and relatively problem-free. There are reports of disconnection problems if too many tables are running, but reports are fewer than before. Improvements are continuously being made to the software that now supports short-handed tables and note taking.
The poker room's software also has advanced buttons such as check/fold and more to make your playing experience relaxing. The lobby has information on view flop percentage and hands played per hour. There are some innovative functions as well; players have the option of choosing between male or female dealer voices, and hands can be replayed from the hand history in a great graphic interface. The software is updated relatively regularly to ensure safety and stability.
Tournament traffic (6)
Pacific Poker offers a large numbers of Satellites to live poker events and runs daily $5K and $10k guaranteed tournaments. Pacific Poker boasts tournament traffic of 7,000-9,500 real money players at peak hours.
Rake (6)
The is about average of the industry, with better offers at micro-levels and higher rake at the highest stakes. Pacific Poker has a "No Flop - No Drop" rake policy, like most sites. This means that Pacific Poker only rakes the pot when the flop is reached. A maximum of $1.25 is taken out of the pots up to $1/$2 games. At limits below $1/$2 the house takes less than $1, which gives good value for low limit players. At higher limits, $2/$4 and above, Pacific Poker rake max $4 and $5 on the $50-$100 tables. There is no difference in rake based on the number of players in the hand or at the table.
Sign up bonus (7)
The conditions to get the bonus are quite harsh. You must wager 20 times the bonus amount, totaling $3,000 to cash-out max bonus of $150. No requirements on raked hands.
Promotions (9)
Plenty of guaranteed money tournaments, WSOP/WPT qualifiers, Royal Flush/Bad Baet jackpots etc. Great $50,000 guranteed tournament every Sunday (buy in $65).
Financial security (10)
Very secure, as the mother company is a well-established player. Top score.
